East View offers scholarly, popular, and hard-to-find newspapers, journals and magazines as well as irregulars from 40 countries on a subscription basis. We offer the full spectrum of subscription services, including current and back orders, renewals, claims, cancellations, direct or consolidated shipping and customs clearance.

Subscription Periods & Renewals
Most serial subscriptions we offer can be started up at any time of the year. Subscriptions may begin with the next issue to be published (in the case of journals) or from the next month (in the case of newspapers). We usually require a prepayment for our subscription services. Following the initial subscription order, your institution will receive a renewal notice approximately 90 days before the subscription expires. That renewal notice includes a quote for the next subscription year and must be confirmed in writing or paid in advance of the due date to ensure uninterrupted service. If you prefer to skip the step of confirming a renewal each year, you may choose to have your subscription automatically renew and be billed each year.”

Back Issues
East View has stock of most back issues of the journals that we publish and can often source back issues of other titles as well. Please contact us to request pricing and availability for specific issues.

Shipping Information
Shipping and handling costs for delivery of current year print periodical subscriptions are built into the price of the subscription. Shipping costs for back issue and irregular orders might be charged separately. Periodical titles may ship out from East View’s consolidation centers in Moscow, Kiev, Berlin, Czech Republic or Minneapolis, or they may ship directly from the publisher or the publisher’s local authorized shipper. Please contact us if you wish to arrange customs clearance and consolidation of your ordered materials. Additional fees for consolidation and customs clearance might apply.

Approval Plans
Managed by trained staff with language and subject expertise, East View offers customized approval plan services to save you time and effort. We supply many libraries with approval plans for monographs and DVDs from Eastern Europe, former Soviet Union countries, Mongolia, Finland, Turkey, China, Japan and South Korea, covering a wide range of subjects, languages, and budgets. P+E and E approval plans are also available for certain languages. If you are interested in an approval plan for books from Eastern Europe or former Soviet Union countries, please let us know your areas of interest and we would be happy to walk you through our approval plan profile template to show you all the options for customization that are available. EDI invoicing and free vendor-level MARC records accompany any approval plan on your request.

Firm Orders:
Finding special titles, including out-of-print or rare books, is an East View strength. Place your firm order through our user-friendly interface at shop.eastview.com or via email at books@eastview.com. We will do everything possible to find your book – but, in the event an ordered title has become out of print, you will receive an email notification suggesting alternate formats (if available) or a request to cancel the order.

Standing Orders:
East View provides fast, reliable, and accurate standing order services for book series, conference proceedings, irregulars, annuals and yearbooks. Because of their irregular nature, standing order titles remain on order until cancelled and are not included in the annual renewal process for subscriptions. Orders are accepted for current and future publications as well as for single or back volumes. All materials sent as standing orders are checked against your firm order or approval plan services. Annual reports on the status of your standing orders with East View can be provided upon request.

New Book Notifications:
EVMail is East View’s free regular notification service of new books by subject or publication region. Sign up by entering your email address and areas of interest on our EVMail sign up form, and East View will send you customized information and timely alerts of new books in your field of interest.

Returns and Cancellations: East View does not accept returns on physically processed materials, firm orders or standing order issues which have already shipped out unless an item is received in damaged condition, or the wrong item is received. Returns on approval plan orders must be received within 90 days of the invoice date to be credited to your account. If you would like to cancel an order that has not yet shipped, simply contact books@eastview.com about the item you wish to cancel. If credit card payment was provided along with the order, refunds should not be necessary since we do not charge the card until items are shipped.

Newspaper and Journal Binding Services:
This unique service offers libraries the complete bound version of periodicals after the last issue of a given year is published. It is particularly useful for online subscribers where a paper copy is also desired. Patrons can have online access to publications during the year, while libraries have the complete bound version in paper at year’s end to ensure preservation. Prices depend on periodicity, please inquire for details. Binding services includes application of title as the library wishes it presented, issues and call numbers on the spine, choice of numerous color and material options for the cover, as well as optional security strips.

Shelf-Ready Book Program:
East View also offers a shelf-ready book program that allows libraries to get their materials to users faster while also reducing technical services costs. Our shelf-ready program includes the provision of full MARC records and in-house physical processing services that include barcodes, spine label and protector, library stamp, security device, dust jacket protection, and more.

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI):
Electronic data interchange (EDI) in EDIFACT or X12 compatible with major Integrated Library Systems is available at no charge for purchase orders and invoices. Please contact us if your library is interested in setting up EDI for your order processing needs.

Consolidation Services and Customs Clearance:
Periodical titles and books may ship out from East View’s consolidation centers in Moscow, Kiev, Berlin, Brno or Minneapolis, or they may ship directly from the publisher or the publisher’s local authorized shipper. Please contact us if you wish to arrange customs clearance and consolidation of your ordered materials. Additional fees for consolidation and customs clearance might apply.
